Nice design, nice materials but not factory seam taped, May 17, 2006 By Martin (Santiago, Chile) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This tent has a very nice design, and is very light. It stands strong in moderate winds and rain. I would have rated it 4.5 stars if it wasn't for the seams that are not taped or factory sealed. For a tent in this price range I would have expected a tent ready to use out of the box.
I use it mostly in sea kayak trips, along with a Golite Hex 3.

Best tent EVER, worth the price, June 11, 2007 By Ive gone through too many tents in my life to skimp out on a 1 stop shop purchase. Yes, you have to seal the seams on your own, but it gives the tent the EXTRA sealing it needs anyways. If you purchased any other tent it is very wise to seam-seal it regardless. It stood up in a severe storm without a sweat. Has yet to be moist on the inside from condensation. very light, perfect backpacking. fits 3 people ok, but perfectly spacious for 2 people with full complete gear. fast setup when you know what you are doing. it is difficult to setup in extremely windy conditions, but what tent is easy in the wind? overall A++
Great tent while it lasts, but it won't last long, July 15, 2011 By This review is from: Black Diamond Skylight Tent 3-Person 3-Season (Misc.) When I first got this tent I loved it!!! Lightweight, roomy and holds up in wind and heavy thunderstorms in the mountains. But now that I've had the tent for 5 years, I am disappointed. I'm an average user. I used the tent on summer/fall weekends and long backpacks 1x a year. The tent is falling apart now!!! Zipper doesn't work and holes are appearing in the fabric, especially where the tent fabric attaches to the bathtub floor. I have taken care of the tent - cleaned it out and never put it away wet. Washed it with a hose 3x. Durability on this tent stinks. With a price this high, a tent should last longer! Finally... I called Black Diamond asking if I could send it in for zipper repair and pay for it myself. NOPE Black Diamond doesn't repair it. Don't buy this tent if you want it to last 10 years.
